TACK! THANKS!

1200 kr (1300 Rand) did I get today from all the stuff we sold at the market. Just called Moses and told him that I'm sending him and Southern Ambition the money. I know they are in a big need of money for some reasons and I also know for sure that they will do something good with it. Next time its John and Youth Soulution 's turn to get something. Moses and John are two individuals that I really trust and I also like the way they wanna work with kids/people. This was so fun and I'm gonna do it soon again! Any tips for good markets around here?

Where it all started.

Why South Africa? Why Cape Town?

It all started when I was a kid, around 1994 when Nelson Mandela became president and I was 10 years old. My father talked about this, I remember. Nelson Mandela seemed like a hell of a guy :) I just decided that I really wanted to go to South Africa. It's something with apartheid that interested me and also the fact that South Africa is on the other side of this planet. Close to the south pole and here I am, in Sweden, actually close to the north pole. I've always been interested in Africa as a continent, because it is, for sure, different from here, in a LOT of ways. I just wanted to see HOW different.

Then, a lot of years later, at 2007 I started to study social work and during the practicals I wanted to go abroad. The choice was easy...

My first time in Cape Town was january - april 2008 and now I've been there four times..

What made me fall in love in this city? I tell you next time...

Little busy

I've been a little busy today. Had a 4 years  anniversary at work. A lot of music, food and dancing with all the kids and co workers. Great times. A mix of Sweden, Afghanistan, Arabic countries and African countries. I like a lot!

Anyway, I'm really tired now and I will try write tomorrow again. 

I just decided I'm just gonna write in english, because it's just double work and I think most of you knows english anyway, right? If you have questions, of course it's ok to ask in swedish! Shoot!

Kan hända att jag lägger upp en del afrikansk musik här ibland med. I morgon ska jag börja berätta om hur det var Kapstaden av alla städer som fångade mitt hjärta.


It will happens sometimes that I put some african music here too. Tomorrow though, I will start to explain why it was Cape Town, of all cities in the world, that took my heart. 

Selling stuff for South Africa.

Den 28 april är det backluckeloppis här i Mjölby. Jag tänkte ta en plats och sälja allt jag kan komma på att jag inte behöver. Pengarna skickar jag ner till Sydafrika. Har du något hemma du inte behöver och vill bli av med? Ge det till mig så säljer jag det (försöker i alla fall) nästa lördag. Själv ska jag göra en ordentlig rensning i garderoben! Där lär det finnas en hel del jag kan göra mig av med.

Im gonna have a table at a market and sell old stuff I don't need anymore. The money is going to South Africa, to the projects I've been involved in, to people I trust. 

This is how much Africa means to me!

En start

Tanken är att jag ska skriva om Sydafrika, speciellt om Kapstaden. Vad jag gjort här, vad jag vill göra och vad man kan göra. Jag kommer lägga upp bilder från mina resor. Ni kommer kunna ställa frågor och jag kommer ge tips på hur man, på bästa och billigaste vis kan åka till Kapstaden och antingen volontärjobba eller bara bara vara turist. Jag kommer ju självklart förespråka att ni åker ner som volontär, då jag vet att det ger så himla mycket mer! Men inga frågor är dumma frågor och alla ideer är bra, blir bara glad om fler upptäcker den här underbara staden...

Frågan är om jag ska orka skriva på engelska också? Vi får se?

The idea is that I'll write about South Africa, especially about Cape Town. What I've done there, what I want to do and what YOU can do. I'll post pictures from my travels.You will be able to ask questions and I will give tips on how, in the best and cheapest way you can travel to Cape Town and either do volunteer work or simply just being a tourist. I will try to get you to go there as a volunteer, because I know that it gives so much more, SO much more! But no questions are stupid questions and all ideas are good ones, I'm just happy if more people discover this wonderful city ...
